The song we sang back then still resonates with sorrow... Listen to the cries of the lost piranhas!

The "Piranha Group," formed in 1975 primarily by actors belonging to Toei, is finally approaching the re-release date of their 1977 LP "Piranha Group" on August 28th (Wednesday). To coincide with this, a special screening of films featuring the Piranha Group will be held at the Shin-Bungeiza in Ikebukuro starting September 19th (Thursday). Five films will be screened: "Bousou Panic Dai Gekitotsu" (directed by Kinji Fukasaku), "Kurutta Yajuu" (directed by Sadao Nakajima), "Kawachi no Ossan no Uta" (directed by Takeichi Saito), "Piranha Group: Dabo Shirt no Ten" (directed by Kosaku Yamashita), and "Onna Gokumoncho: Hikisakareta Nisou" (directed by Yuji Makiguchi). Following the screening of "Piranha Group: Dabo Shirt no Ten" on September 22nd (Sunday), there will also be a mini-live performance by Kan Mikami and a talk show featuring Maki Tachibana.

The "Piranha Group" was formed when a drinking party naturally started with so-called "supporting actors" who played roles such as those who get cut down, killed, villains, and antagonists in movies and TV dramas, supporting the productions. One of the members, Masaru Shiga, dreamed of one day overshadowing the lead actors and named the group the "Piranha Club." Later, producers Sadao Nakajima and Tsunehiko Watase initiated the formation of the group. In October 1975, Takuzo Kawatani and Hideo Murota appeared in the NTV drama "Dear Mother," which aired, and the group gradually gained public recognition. Subsequently, films featuring the aforementioned members were released one after another, and a Piranha Group boom ensued.

The LP "Piranha Army" has been miraculously re-released. The CD includes previously unreleased tracks!

This album came about when folk singer Hiroshi Mikami, who also worked as an actor, heard the idea of making a record for the Piranha Group during a drinking session with Tsunehiko Watase. The album was produced by Bellwood Records and released on May 21, 1977. Hiroshi Mikami wrote and composed 11 of the songs, with the exception of M-4 "Ore (Reo)" and M-12 "Murauta ~Washashiran Bushi~". Jun Sato and a young Ryuichi Sakamoto handled the arrangements and keyboards, and a host of other talented musicians such as Shuichi Murakami, Tetsuro Kashibuchi, Tsugutoshi Goto, and Nobu Saito participated in the performance. The vocal recordings were made at Toei Kyoto Studios.
The producers included Hiroshi Mikami, who was in charge of the music, and film director Sadao Nakajima. Tsunehiko Watase wrote the liner notes as a show of support, and Maki Tachibana, who was known as the "female piranha," sang "Nanohana Damon."
This album has never been re-released on LP since its initial release, making this a highly anticipated release for fans. Furthermore, the CD version includes instrumental versions of all tracks, making their debut on this format. Both the LP and CD are currently available for pre-order at CD shops nationwide. Be sure to check it out!
